Sports Update!

Last night the Lady Vikings took on the Hartford Indians. After a very promising 10 minutes, the Vikings suffered one goal against but still continued to fight. Unfortunately, the Indians took advantage of another opportunity and capitalized to make it 2-0 before the half. To start the half, the Vikings and Indians played toe to toe, until the Indians managed to score once more to finish off the game 3-0. Despite the result, I would like to thank the families who came to support the girls.

The Lady Vikings fought hard, but fell short to Decatur in District play last night. Amara Littlefield and Lexy Strampel combined to score 22 points to lead Bangor. Alyssa Birner chipped in with 6 points. A huge shout out goes to all the Lady Vikings this season. Your effort was amazing.

From Coach Rickyna Luter (JV GIRLS BASKETBALL):

The JV Lady Vikes defeated Centreville last night by a score of 33-21 The ladies worked hard all week to prepare for this game and it definitely showed when they took the court. On the defensive end, the Vikings had a combined total of 21 steals. Offensively, this was their best game to date. Megan Noe led the team in scoring with 12 points. Marrissa Legon and Briseida Sanchez chipped in with 5 points each. Sandra Barajas and Lilliana Alcauter both added to the total with two baskets each. It was an all-around team effort last night.  I am so proud of the hard work that our Vikings are putting in.

Bangor Junior, Omar Jeffries sinks two free throws to help seal the victory for Bangor in Decatur (BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL):

Boys Varsity BasketballLate in the fourth quarter with the game tied, Michael Hardester found himself wide open on the wing for a three pointer.  After Hardester's three went through the net, Cameron London stole the inbound and with a pass to Jeffery Howell the Vikings found themselves up five with less than a minute to go in the game.  The Raiders hit a deep three but had to foul to stop the clock.  Viking Omar Jeffries stepped to the line, sank both free throws and the Vikings held on for the victory in Decatur.  In a true team effort eight of the eleven Viking players scored in the game.  Led by Hardester's 10.  The Vikings will travel to Mendon on Tuesday and play Hartford at home on Friday.
